About Alrik

Construction is one of the world's largest industries — and most of it still runs on phone calls and paper notes. Alrik changes that. We're a transport intelligence platform that turns manual logistics into AI-powered workflows for builders merchants, hire companies, and material suppliers across Northern Europe.

Today, Alrik is business-critical software for some of the biggest builders merchants in the Nordics and the UK — and we're expanding into the rest of Europe. Our team is small and tight, which is deliberate. We'd rather have fewer, better people who genuinely shape what we build.

Our north star: become the most customer-focused tech company in the world. For engineering, that means you don't just write code that ships — you talk to the people who use it, understand their problems firsthand, and build solutions that create real value.

The Role

As a Backend Engineer, you'll join a small core team building the systems behind real-time construction logistics. You'll own features end-to-end — from a conversation with a customer to code running in production.

We rarely hire — but right now we're gaining real traction, with a growing list of customer projects and demand for new features that our current team can't keep up with alone. This isn't a backfill. It's a deliberate decision to add someone who will raise the bar and grow with us as we scale across Europe.

What You'll Do
  • Talk to customers and build what they need. You'll regularly engage with the people using Alrik — understanding their workflows, pain points, and what "good" looks like to them. Then you'll design and ship features and integrations that solve real problems.
  • Balance today's needs with tomorrow's opportunities. You'll deliver working software in short iterations while thinking about where the product should go next — including how AI and new technologies can make us faster and better, and how it affects what we build.
  • Shape how we work. In a team this size, your opinions on architecture, tooling, and engineering practices directly influence the culture. We expect you to have opinions and share them.
Our Tech Stack

Python, FastAPI, Pydantic, MySQL, Pub/Sub, TypeScript, and GCP. If you're strong in another modern backend language, that's a perfectly fine starting point — we care more about how you think than which language you've been typing in.

What We're Looking For
  • You're good with people. Customers and colleagues genuinely enjoy working with you. You can explain technical trade-offs to non-technical people without being condescending.
  • You've shipped products that solve real problems, with a few years of backend experience under the hood. We care more about what you've built and why than how long you've been doing it.
  • You thrive in small teams with short feedback loops. You're comfortable shipping frequently, iterating based on real usage, and owning the outcome.
  • You take ownership and stay curious. You don't wait to be told what to do. You dig into problems, ask questions, and care about the details.
  • You communicate clearly in English, written and spoken. Swedish is not required.
  • You're able to work in Sweden.
What We Offer
  • Direct influence on the product. You'll shape architecture decisions, roadmap priorities, and how we work — not just execute tickets.
  • A team that punches above its weight. Small, skilled, and energized colleagues who care about building great software.
  • Competitive salary
  • Generous equity participation — we want you to have real skin in the game as we grow.
  • 30 days vacation
  • Healthcare and wellness allowance
  • Hybrid setup from our Stockholm office — we value in-person collaboration and also respect focused time at home.
